What is Ryan White funding?
The Ryan White CARE Act is federal legislation that provides funding to ensure People Living with HIV are able to receive quality medical care and support services. Eligibility for services are based on the following criteria:
- Having an HIV diagnosis
- Having income below the Federal Poverty Level threshold using your proof of income
- Residency or living within a funded jurisdiction.
- Enrollment in health insurance programs OR demonstrating that you are unable to get health insurance.
How do I schedule a medical visit?
You can schedule a medical visit by calling our office at 313-966-2800.
How early should I arrive for my first scheduled appointment?
We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to complete paperwork.
What should I bring to my first scheduled appointment?
You should bring valid ID, your insurance card, and proof of income.
What if I don’t have a valid ID?
Your labs will have to be drawn in the clinic – DMC laboratories will not provide service to people without a valid ID. Our Patient Advocates will provide information and referrals for you to obtain valid identification.
Why do I need my proof of income?
Proof of income is an essential eligibility requirement for our services. Similar to state or federal programs, we must verify that you or your household require the additional support. Essentially, we aim to ensure that your annual income does not exceed $58,000. Rest assured, this process is in place to facilitate access to the necessary support and services.
Do I have to live in Detroit?
No. The grants allow us to service the Detroit Eligible Metropolitan Area (DEMA) which includes Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Livingston, and St. Clair counties.
What Medical Insurance’s do you accept?
We accept a number of insurance plans, but you are also able to be seen if you are uninsured. Our team will assist you with accessing insurance through the Insurance Exchange or connect you with the Michigan Drug Assistance Program (MiDAP). MiDAP will cover the cost of labs and medication. It is important to know that MiDAP will not cover the costs for other specialty care medical providers. Below is the list of insurances plans we currently accept.
